  • High Tech Jobs and MAGA

This the final paragraph of Mark Gurman’s Arpril 12 article in Bloomberg.com

“Apple and other companies have been stressing to the Trump administration that — while they are willing to increase investment in the US — there’s little benefit in moving final assembly to the country. Instead, they have argued, the US should be focusing on bringing back higher-value jobs and encouraging investment in things like semiconductor production.”

The problem with focusing on higher-value jobs is that this does not play to the MAGA base. Higher-value jobs require education, training, science and engineering which is abhorrent to the MAGA base. As Vivek Ramaswamy put it, in his WSJ op-ed in December too many Americans, ie MAGA, just want to be cheerleaders or jocks rather than put in the hard work to be productive with today’s advance technology and job market.

  • Three Goals – Four Years

During these trying times, here are my three objectives.

    1. Support the arts. This may not seem to be that important, but for me it is. The current US administration is soulless, they are all about making money and hurting others. They have no guiding light or principles, no empathy for others, in fact empathy is a dirty word to them. To me, art is one way to contradict their lack of soul. For me music is especially important, but all forms of art are good.
    2. Climate. It’s obvious they do not think climate and the warming of the earth to be important. It is, and we need to find ways to make the earth habitable for all. We are earth’s stewards, we are doing a terrible job.
    3. Bear Witness. Some people carry a weapon, I carry a camera. My job is to record what is happening in my current location. I’ll do my best to capture, edit and then share my findings.

Yes, there are many other things I could do, but these are the three I have chosen to focus on.

  • First Cut of My Carcassonne Video

Still much to be done, but here is a first draft. I found some AI images on Envato and also generated some new ones. Also, the music is from Envato. ChatGPT was used for some of the narration; but, I received some feedback that my voice was better. I’m not sure about that, but I’ll try to do my own voice narration.

So far, I’ve not been very impressed by AI. It seems if you spend lots of time describing what you want you might get go results, but is it worth the time? A truly intelligent system should be able to understand your desires quicker.

So, here is the first try:

  • Chrysler Building

Great time today, went to the Whitney Museum, walked the High Line, enjoyed the Christo exhibit at the Shed and finished up at the Chrysler Building. More tonight, dinner at Scarpetta and then Beckett at the Irish Repertory Theater.

  • Chaos Plus14

The website, though simple, is finally coming together. Now it’s time to return to editing Carcassonne. The fortress is fascinating, but its history is quite unsettling, almost as unsettling as our current experiences. In fact, it’s even more disturbing, but since we’re living through the chaos now, our present situation feels more troubling.

  • Chaos Plus 8

No time for web stuff or imaging today, other stuff had a higher priority. The other chaos guy lived up to his name cutting funding everywhere. Way to go, pumpkin head!

  • Chaos Plus 7

Seems like there is another AI player in the world, DeepSeek from China. Apparently, DeepSeek can do much of what OpenAI does, without the fancy chips. This shows what smart people can do and the danger of putting up boundaries to keep such people out of our country!

The new investment goal for OpenAI is now $100-500 Billion, mostly for infrastructure. Wow! Look at my SORA creation for MAGA coffee, below. More information about this video is in my Artificial Intelligence section. Yikes, scary so much money is being invested for this.
